DAAP Holds 20th 20th DeMolay Alumni National Congress (DANCON) 2017 in Cebu City




Last May 19-21, 2017 Senior DeMolays coming from various parts of the country and from some parts of the globe, descended upon the Queen City of the South to meet in conclave and fellowship for the 20th DeMolay Alumni National Congress (DANCON) at the Guanzon’s Beach Resort in Naga, Cebu and the White Gold House in the heart of Cebu City.

The event, hosted by Cebu DeMolay Alumni Chapter No. 18, drew the attendance of hundreds of delegates representing various DeMolay Alumni Chapters here and abroad. With the theme “One Team One Goal”, the DANCON hoped to bring together the senior members of the fraternity to strengthen the Alumni movement and to foster stronger fellowship amongst the senior members of the Order.

Members of the delegation also awarded young scientists and students who participated in the organization of conferences and meetings with representatives of authorities. In accordance with the terms and criteria of the award, the candidates for the award were chosen by scientific staff from the https://dissertationmasters.com/ .The DANCON 2017 kicked off with the arrival and registration of delegates on the morning of Friday, May 19, 2017. After a sumptuous lunch, the afternoon activities began with a series of team building activities participated in by the delegates. After dinner, the formal sessions began with each of the alumni chapters rendering their annual yearend reports. The outgoing National President Anwar Sabdani P. Hadjirul Jr., Chev., then rendered his end of term report to end the evening’s formal session. Evening fellowship then followed.



The second day of the DANCON 2017 started with the delegates going on a city tour of Cebu, the whole morning, courtesy of the hosts. After lunch, the delegates attended a holy mass celebrated by Fr. Paul Enterina, a senior DeMolay from Lapu Lapu Chapter. After the mass, the formal plenary session started with its opening ceremony.

The Plenary Session was opened by the National Secretary Alvin L. Llanderal, Chev., LOH who acted as the presiding officer. The representatives of various DeMolay Alumni Chapters present and dignitaries of the DeMolay Alumni Association of the Philippines, such as the National Officers and Board Members, were then received. Members and officers of the Supreme Council Order of DeMolay Republic of the Philippines were also received as dignitaries.

The Honorable Grand Master of the Supreme Council Order of DeMolay of the Republic of the Philippines Leg. Edison Abella, LOH, DGC, attended the affair as the Guest of Honor and Speaker. Grand Master Abella is also the Chairman of the Board of the DeMolay Alumni Association of the Philippines. Together with the Grand Master was Grand Treasurer and Past Grand Master Rodel Riezl S.J Reyes, LOH, DGC and the Jurisdictional Deputy Grand Master for Visayas Jeff Edward L. Pintac, Chev., LOH.

The plenary session tackled important issues concerning the organization. Proposals and resolutions were discussed and decided upon by the House of Delegates during the session. Also during the session, Charters were issued to three alumni chapters who were under dispensation the past year, while Letters Temporary were issued to two newly created alumni chapters (please see related article). The elections of the new set of DeMolay Alumni Association of the Philippines National Officers then ensued after the close of the plenary sessions (please see related article). The evening formal activities ended with the Installation Ceremony of the newly elected National Officers of the DeMolay Alumni Association of the Philippines (please see related article). A grand fellowship was then celebrated till the wee hours of the morning at Muvan’s Pocherohan Century Plaza to the delight of the delegates.

The delegates were treated to an island hopping experience by the host in the morning of May 21, 2017 – the last day of the DANCON 2017. The delegates took a boat ride around the beautiful islands surrounding Mactan, Cebu from morning till late afternoon. Most of the delegates took the chance to beat the summer heat when they swam the cool waters of the islands they stopped over. Lunch consisting of roasted pork, grilled fish, local delicacy “kinilaw” and fresh sea urchin and shell fish awaited those who participated in the island tour. The island tour ended just in time for most of the delegates to catch their plane and boat rides home. Some delegates stayed one more night to enjoy the sights and sounds of Cebu City before heading back home the following day.
